I have a 7 month old pup that has a broken right front leg. I am guessing that he ran off a small cliff as he hav no other injuries. I have tried wrapping the leg to hold it in place. I have also given him motrin for the swelling and a pcn injection. He has never shown any sign of pain except that he wont put his foot down. Is there a certain typr of splint or way of wrapping it that you would recomenf?

I'm not sure what part of that post was any contribution to the thread. A splint needs to keep the broken bone from moving but not be tight enough to cut off circulation. Are you sure the leg is broken? Has it been x-rayed? The most responsible thing to do is have a vet look at it to determine if it is broken, exactly where it is broken and whether or not it can heal. If you just splint it without being sure of those things you risk crippling a young dog.

Ear mites are more common in cats and kittens. But I have seen them in dogs before. Ivermectin is the drug if choice for ear mites. Try ordering some revolution online or buying some Ivermectin from the feed store.
Good luck and good hunting,

Hey I have a 1 year old walker male who has got some pink spots on his leg and chest and on the spots on his legs the hair is missing but not on his chest. I think they are hot spots but I am not for sure I bought some hot spot treatment at wal mart and I put some of that on him today. They just look like little red bumps.Do you know what these are? Thank you.

Hello,
It's hard to say exactly what theses little red bumps could be. Is he itchy? If the hotspot doesn't work have a vet do a skin scrape. If its not mites/mange then ask your vet for an antibiotic prescription to WalMart. It 4 bucks there!!!
Good luck

Doc..
I have a 6 month old pup(in my signature) , well when i first got her she was really skinny..she started putting on weight after i wormed her. well she was doing good...now she has dropped weight again & nothing has changed. i have even wormed her agin. Vet give her a clean bill of health!.....& she is a real hyper pup, but she hasnt been running around enough for her to just drop weight randomly. could something be seriously wrong? she still eats and drinks water & acts like nothing is bothering her...she's eats Purina Puppy Chow..3-4 times a day!

Doc

Is there a medication for ear infections that is over-the-counter or do I have to go to the vet? Also what can I do for his tore pad. Happened in the woods Friday night. I tried posting a picture of it but won't upload.

Hey doc I have a question for you about parvovirus if giving a hound this mixture would help yogurt, children's anti-diarrhea & anti- nausea with molded bread every 30 minutes for 24-48 hrs then 4-6 times a day until they eat it on their own for a week then as a booster once or twice every 3 months to keep up their health added in the food
