my dogs eye looks really dry and sort of wrinkled up around his eye. i think its swollen a little too. the eye looks fine, just the area right around it. there was some mucous in the eye a day or so ago too, and i put eye allergy drops in, and the mucous seems to be gone. any ideas what would cause the area around the eye to get like this????

also, it almost looks like the hair around the eye is gone, but i think thats just the swelling.

This couldnt be mange could it? Its just around one eye, and nowhere else on his body. I just got the dog from a man that said the eye just started lookin like that a few days prior. He said maybe it was a spider bite or somethin.??? He would surely know if it was mange, as he has had dogs all his life, and has 10 others there now. Any advise or insight is greatly appreciated.

IT COULD BE A INVERTED EYE LID. IF IT IS THE VET WILL NEED TO FIX IT. IF THAT IS WHAT IT IS. THE HAIR AROUND THE EYE IS ALWAYS ON THE EYE BALL AND IRRITATING THE EYE.

thanks stu. wouldn't that irritate the eye itself though? His eye is fine, just the area around it. could it be mange? think i'm takin him to the vet in case it is mange. opening day is in 4 days, and i gotta know.
