I have been told at the pharmacy that they no longer sell boric acid and that it has been outlawed. Is this true? If so is their a new formula for treating ear infections?

My second question is about ivomec. Is there more than one type? If so what type should I buy? Do I give it to my dog oraly?

I use either one below. Just depends if generic is in stock when I buy locally.

Namebrand

Generic

It is the 1% Ivermectin injectable.

http://www.revivalanimal.com/store/p/274-Ivomec-1-.aspx

I give it orally at 1/10th cc per 10lbs -- 50lb dog would get .50cc. So a 60lb dog would get .60cc.

CC and ML are the same as some syringes have the markings of ML instead of CC.

After I draw the dosage, I fill up the rest of syringe with non-sugar fruit drink or a flat coke zero and squirt into mouth once a month.

If you didn't notice on the bottles pictured, get the ivomec for cattle & swine.

Buckshot, why no sugar?

OK lol, I do the same thing except I just mix up some sugar water to mix with it. Been doing it that way for years and no problems.

I'm a pharmacy technician, so I just wanted to let you know that it has not been outlawed. Some pharmacies have just decided not to carry it anymore if they don't have a high demand for it. Hope that helps.

dont mix them together. these two items are for treating different afflictions. ivomec is a dewormer. they are using the boric acid to make some type of ear infection treatment. sounds like you better just take yours to the vet.

Buckshot and Slough,

Am I missing something here? You guys take this stuff? Ivomec? Seriously, I really didn't think humans would take this stuff to deworm.
I am really curious now as to the reasons behind it.
Please remember, "there are no dumb questions, just dumb people asking them".
Thanks

I don't personally take it, but I do give to the dogs monthly for heartworm preventative..............I think 99.9% of the post in this section will relate to the Health and Medical of CANINES.

okay, I had to re-read what you were saying earlier. Originially I thought you were saying that you took it because of the being a diabetic comment.
It's coming together now. Thanks for bearing with me! lol

Yep the ending of the sentence in that post explains:
