I don't know about other states, but here in Wisconsin it it illegal let the dogs kill them. It does happen, but we try to abide by the law and put the coons down with a "quick and humane kill", as the regulations state. We'll stand on their body and shoot 'em in the head. The dogs will pull on them to get 'em under control for us, and sometimes they'll kill it, but that's just part of the hunt. However, as Christians, we do need to obey the law. (Romans 13:1)

If we didn't hunt them and regulate them there would be disease and or worse that would lead to extinction so, we wouldn't be the husbandman that God wanted us to be. And at the same time obeying man's laws help preserve them for later generations. So Killing them is not sinful it's doing what God wants us to do plus their good to eat.
