This was given by God to Moses to show us that there is no way we can be righteous on our own. None of us can keep all of the ten commandments let alone all the hundreds of other laws that Israel was given. That's why Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, in other words to make a way for us to be righteous in God's sight by his own shed blood as our perfect sacrifice. Now the law can become a delight for those who seek to live by it while they realize that it no longer is their condemnation if they have been made righteous through faith in Jesus. We can't become more righteous than Jesus has made us. If we see the Law that way we are back to living as though Jesus never died for us. So Jesus healed on the sabbath and his disciples picked grain to eat on the sabbath and the Pharisee lawyers got real mad and called them on it. So we need to look at the sabbath as a gift for our benefit not as a way to become righteous. Take it as a day to rest, recharge yourself, seek time with the Lord and appreciate time with friends and family. If you have to work do it then but take a day somewhere each week to have a rest day. Most of us make that Sunday since we tend to make that our day to gather at church. Nothing wrong with it being on a Monday or Thurs as long as folks keep up a strong committment to being with their local church family. If folks at church treat you like a visitor then you are not there enough. LOL

Genesis 1 On the first day god said let there be light and god divided
the light from darkness. That was the first 1st day then he done thing
on the 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th day. Then on the 7th day or saturday he
rested. All this is in Genesis chapter 1 and 2.

Then in Exodus chapter 20 is the 10 commandments. Remember the
sabbath day. to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy
work. So that is what God did . God blessed the sabbath day and
hallowed it. You should read the genesis 1 and 2 and Exodus chapter

Just not sure if God began his week on a Sunday or Monday. Israel set every seventh day as their Sabbath and every seventh year was to be a jubilee year, slaves set free and debts forgiven. That would be nice wouldn't it. As the Church we don't do everything exactly like Israel used to but there's lots of things we carried over following Jesus' example. Jesus taught us that we now follow a new covenant by his blood so some things in the old law are now even more important. Like the law said, Don't commit adultery....Jesus said we did do it if we looked at someone with lustful eyes. Or Don't murder....but if we call someone 'fool' we have murdered them in our wishes. Same with the sabbath observance...if there's a thing that has to get done then do it and be done but don't have the sabbath be the day you squeeze out extra to try to get ahead. The sabbath is to be a day to free us and rest us from hitting it hard all week. What if we could take every seventh year and set that aside, lots of us would learn to trust God in a way we never did before. We would see God will be faithful to take us through. Whenever Israel was following God faithfully they did not need to worry about not having enough to last them. When they were unfaithful their crops were poor, the rain was scarce and enemies came in and messed with them.

again, Sunday is not the Sabbath. It is known in modern times as "the Lord's Day". The day Christ rose from the grave, also in the book of Acts, the disciples came together on the first day of the week in worship and fellowship, this set up the modern calendar for "church" on Sunday.

If I may ask a question....

If you feel the need to abide by the law and observe the Sabbath and keep it holy do you drive far to church?? Because under the law you cannot travel more than roughly a mile to worship. Also, I am sure you dont drive a vehicle since it is forbidden to start a fire on the sabbath. The engine in a car runs off of combustion(fire) so driving to church is out of the question. I am sure you dont cook on the Sabbath since that is forbidden as well.

You had better beware of people who get hung up on sabbath days, cooking on church days, etc. The entire Seventh day adventist moevment was conjured up by a plageurizing woman heretic. Isnt it odd that the Saturday church crowd want to follow the BIble to a "T", yet they seem to overlook the part where the Bible says a woman cannot be a Pastor(bishop), yet they follow the teachings of a woman.
