I had a bible for years and I lost it somewhere.
My wife surprised me this week, she bought me a new one just like it!
Made me happy.
It's a KJV study bible with cross references from scripture to scripture...ie old testament to new and vise versa, it's got a few maps, and it has annotated footnotes which is nice but not really needed.

It took it's first trip to church today.

I am glad for your excitement. Of all the gear a person needs a good Bible is above a new rifle or hunting dog by far. Break it in real good. Write in the margins and everything. Makes me remember all the folks who live in countries where they have no Bible in their own language or their gov't doesn't want them to be reading it. God bless and don't forget to pray for those who would give gold for what we have so easily, God's word.

I knew a fellow that would read through the entire Bible every time he got a new one..... (hint) :D I could not keep such a pace myself but admired him for doing so. I know another fellow who reads through the entire bible twice a year. He can summarize the entire new testament chapter by chapter. You can ask him what is in any chapter and he can tell you the subjects covered and the principle themes. I know another fellow that memorized the entire new testament. You can imagine these folks did not spend hours on in in front of the TV.

I just finished reading through the entire Bible this week although it took me about 2 years. Back several years ago our whole family did it in a year with a One Year Bible. Sure wish I could do that again with them. Took us about 20 minutes a day. Hardest part was catching up if we missed a few days.

Congratulations to you on that new Bible :) It sure sounds like you are looking forward to using it! Its sharper than a two edged sword.
