Ask, and it shall be given (if we ask for wisdomas it regards the settling of disputes, or for anything, it shall be given); seek and you shall find (the answer may not be forthcoming immediatly; therefore, we should "seek" to know the reason why); knock and it shall be opened unto you (we must make sure that is His dooron which we are knocking; if it is it will definitly be opened to us);

This is from my expositors Study Bible. I hope this is some help to you. I have been reading "Beyond Jebez". I am not a proponant of any prosperity doctrine as I think it takes the Jebez prayer out of context for worldly profit. However this books seems to do a good job of showing how the Lord wants to help and bless us as Math 7:7 tells us here.

Jesus tells us to persist in pursuing God. People often give up after a few halfhearted efforts and conclude that God cannot be found. But knowing God takes faith,focus, and follow-through, and Jesus assures us that we will be rewarded. Don't give up in your efforts to seek God. Continue to ask him for more knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding. He will give them to you.
