Not to be rude but if my coon dog ran hogs he would loose his home in a hurry. I really dont think you can do both if you are hunting a place that has both. I used to run hog and bear with my plotts after we lost our bear season and could take them to N.C., Maine, Canada, and Georgia and not jump hogs as there were none. But I wouldnt never let my bear dogs run hogs when we still had a season.

Paul Sisk

p.s. If you are in Florida then you probably had better decide which one you want to hunt. Hogs were always the hardest thing to break our coon dogs from running.

Sure you can. If you don't mind going in on a big nasty boar at night, LOL

Or walk to coon tree in the daytime. We have dogs that will do both. If you are meat hunter and not a competition hunter you can do it whenever you get ready. Only downfall I have seen is running hogs at night it gets a little hard to get a shot on them in the dark, and you will walk to a few coon trees early in the morning.

I been studying on the same thing. Dropped my cur and hound Tuesday and the hound treed a coon about 4:30 pm. Dropped them today and bayed some pigs.
Just don't like baying hogs with hounds because they have a different style than stock bred curs and are prone to catch baby pigs while the cur bays the sow.
I just want to enjoy my dogs and if there are no hoga lets run a coon or a cat.

So down here in Florida coon and especially hogs are a dime a dozen. I wanna run both. But I don't know how to go about getting the dog to realize when the lights go out we hunt coon and when the suns up its pigs. Any suggestions and idea would be much appreciated.
