This is going to be my first year running a hound for yotes, she's a 75lb year old blue tick, is it safe to run her alone? Or do I need more dogs?

More hounds at least 2 maybe 3. A pack of yotes won't think twice about killing a hound or dog, and eating it!

If that bitch has some grit to her she will have no problem. You are running coyotes not wolves. We run coyotes all the time with one dog and never had one killed, the only problem is if she has no fight to her and she is fast enough to catch them she might quite the coyote if it turns and try to hold its ground.

That's a good looking dog! She has fight in her...we just got a few inches of powder, going to give it shot in the early morning. Image

I'm just curious how you catch the dog chasing coyotes? Last I knew they don't climb trees. Just wondering never hunted them with dogs before.

Shoot the coyote as he's running or the dogs catch him. That's when you get them.

i run coyotes alot with just 1 hound in ny and have never had a pack of yotes attack my hound during the season here in ny. they will attack hounds in the summer though when they have pups to protect. if you like check out my site below, it`s 1 of the largest yote-hound sites in the country. we have alot of members from ny.
