I live in Madison county(where its not legal to hunt deer with dogs/idk bout hogs) but I hunt bout 2.5 hrs south in Fayette Co.(where I can hunt with dogs). I was wandering if anyone out there somewhat local, hunts deer or hogs with dogs and would like to turn em loose? I have 8 dogs ranging from treeing walkers, black & tans, a redbone and some mtn. cur/redbone/walker mixes. The mixed dogs and the redbone pup need training and I just cant drive that far once or twice a week! Esp if gas is gonna be 6 bucks a gal this summer. I still hunt hogs on the local wma's during the off season and where its allowed but I'd like to stretch them dogs out and keep em up for next season, anybody got any ideas?

I am also in Madison County.

What local WMA allows hogs to be hunted during the closed season?

Here is the 2011-2012 WMA Regulations:

As far as I know, even when season is open, the WMA's up here do not allow dogs for hog hunting. I don't think none of them allow dogs for hog hunting.

I don't imagine any wma's allow any kind of hunting during a closed season, but hunting during the "off" season for me means hunting other game other than deer.

For Hog hunting, Seven Mile Island allows black poder right now, March 1-31, and Black Warrior in Moulton allows same weapon during deer season March 1-14.

None of those allow hunting hogs with dogs though. So if anyone dog hunts in North Alabama, please let me know. (By "North" I mean above Birmingham, just in case there is any geographical qestion as to what falls under North Alabama)
Thanks

I know of the special seasons for certain WMA's. (But since it's a special season, it's not a closed season)

Thought you referring to hunting hogs with dogs on the WMA's as that is how it sounds and impied in your post.

I see what you mean now. When i said' "I still hunt hogs on the local wma's during the off season" I should have said, "I stalk hunt hogs... still/stalk hunting.
