I just recently got a 6 yr old b&t. He is a grand champion and has sired six other champions. He acts like a two year old, tons if energy cant hardly keep hin calm. But my question is hes always just hunted coons, and i was wounderin if its to late to get him on hogs?

Your dogs not told old, but that's a good way to get him killed. if your serious about hogs you need to get him in a bay pen with a hog that has no tusk and see what he does, if he is catchy then get a rougher hog to teach him to stand back and bay cause if he runs right in on a wild hog and tries to catch he will only do it once and he will get cut bad probably killed and either way you may ruin a good coon dog. even with a vest and cut collar he could get an eye knocked out, ribs smashed and puncture a lung or head punched and die right there in front of you ( been there done that :x )

Here is my heart felt advise to you- sell him to some young fella who needs a good coon dog and go buy you a good started hog dog, you will both be better off.

If you don't head that then hear this. Don't go to woods without a GOOD dog first aid kit, made for HOG DOGS your gonna need that and soon you will learn as I did the fine art of sewing up dogs with out making them hurt any worse than they already do, and how to tape eye balls back in there sockets until you get to the vet, how to place dog guts back in there proper place ( very important FYI ) and how to off set shock before it fully sets in, how to make home made blood clot ect. ect.. ( Custom Collars Opp, Al makes a good hog dog first aid kit ) Much more, but that's enough for now

Not being rude just trying to get you ready for what I learned the hard way that no one ever told me and I don't want to see any one else learn that way. God Bless
