I am looking to buy a pup to train into a big game hound-mainly cats.
What do I ask the owners of the pups if I know nothing of them or their line of dogs.
Should the pup come from known big game parents or can one get a decent looking pup from say a line that only hunted coons and such even if the pup comes from the type of hound that would make a good prospect.
This is going to be my first venture into training a big game hound and I just want to start with the good foot forward.
I live in the north central part of wyoming and have plenty of area to train in..
I have been doing alot of reading on the subjct but would like info from the guys that do it.

Go with big game bred dogs. I'm not saying coon dogs won't work but your odds will be better with the big game bred dogs. Shouldn't be a problem finding one up there.

X2. Go with proven dogs from proven BIG GAME lines that have the nose and grit needed.
