Had my 5 month old pup out last week, after we got a couple inches of fresh snow. Just walking along the edge of a field, he was running in front of me when suddenly he stopped and took off a couple feet into the brush and dug a dead coon out from under a laurel bush. I saw this coon there a couple months ago while bow hunting the same area so I know it's not fresh. Should I take this as a good sign for the potential of this pup?

i think its just a dog . all of mine will roll in something dead. tie the pup back . put string on it drag it around get pup to fallow and use his nose. i would use one thats fresher if it was me.

Stopped using a drag with him, i already know he can work a drag very well. I was just surprised with how accurately he found this coon with snow on it and the fact that it's been layin there dead for months.
