I dont know much about fox hunting. But i bought a walker off my friend who only ran deer with them. and this one would always venture off and den up. so i bought her for cheap and just wanted to see what i could do with her. basically i cut her loose and had a tracking collar on her and after about an hour she would be in the same position for a few minutes and i would go find her and she would be at a fox den. then we dog a hole inito the den and flushed it out and killed it. I dont think that would be condiered the correct wayy to dog hunt fox but it worked

Not to say anything against you FL but the way you killed that fox is illegal in most states I believe bc you can't disturb a den. But to answer your question or to give you an idea EV. You would want to own a hound that is already broke on fox or coyotes. I dont know how populus the fox are in your area but a good old hound that can jump and a young dog would be the way to go for a guy just starting. Its just hard for one dog usually to hunt and run a track by themselves. Fox usually dont cover high amounts of area and do circle and do lots of different tricks in attempt to loose hounds. You don't normally catch a lot of fox with hounds bc they generally den up when a lot of pressure is applied with hounds.

There is much more to it but that should give you somewhat of an idea

First off, where is Stoneboro? There are fox and coyote hunters all over the state and you could probably hook up with somebody. There are also training pens where you can go and get your dog going. We'll have snow before long...go cut a fox track and walk the dog on and see if he'll go. I would also suggest you join the PA Fox and Coyote Hunters Association. If you want more info, let me know.
