Yes they can be trained to rig........Look at the bottom right of the Training Tips Quick Finder on threads on training rig dogs.

You can definitely train them to rig but some are born with this inclination.

The one's that are born with it are way better at it

Have a great rig dog that took to it like that's what he was born for. I think that they have to enjoy it and havw fun before the r true great riggers.

Hunting, trapping , have fun

I have Ben rig hunting for years.started with a hound that his sir was good rig hound.started rigging him,and he rigged great.then I would rig him with young hounds.I seem to be lucky.most hounds I have trained.became riggers I believe some catch on quicker than others.just like any way of hunting them.casting,rigging,roading.but I don't believe it takes a special bloodlines.depends on the hound,and it's nose

I HAVE A LINE OF HOUNDS THAT HAS BEEN GREAT FOR RIG HUNTING.THEY WERE ALL NAT AT IT.BUT THEY CAN BE TAUGHT.I GUESS I'VE BEEN LUCKY.MY HEAVY SPECK MALE DOES A GREAT JOB AND LOOKS LIKE HE'S PASSING IT ON.
