Anyone in Virginia hunting bear? I am planning a trip out this year to visit some friends and thought I may bring my hounds along with me if I can get some info on the seasons, counties, public access lands and what not. I tried to look it up on the department of game and fish website but it is pretty confusing. thanks for any info.

I forgot to mention I will be staying arround amherst county area.

wow i live at the foot of the mtn and hunt over in that area i dont know when your comeing this way but chase season is up and running but goes out some time soon and kill season comes in around december 1 and there is alot of places to hunt around there. Theres a road called Pedlar and it has excelent roads for riging and also fletchers mtn. is a good place to hunt they are both goverment lands good luck and if you bring your dogs let me know how it went
