I hope this is the right forum... How much "money" do you guys carry into the field? I don't mean cash, I mean in equipment. I was thinking about it and I carry around $1400 in stuff---tracking collar, shocker, shotgun and handgun. Sometimes when I let my dog loose I feel like I might as well have just safety pinned a few hundred dollars to his collar

Wow, some things you just don't want to add up. Just on my BELT, I have:
light, $250
tracker receiver, $400
pistol, $350
GPS, $200
hip boots, $120
spare light, $25
add the pouches with bullets, bulbs, and magnets for collars, and it's pretty easy to see why my friends say I look like Batman with my utility belt.
That doesn't cover the $500 dog box, and probably close to $1000 worth of crap in the top of it, in the $20,000 truck, with a tank of liquid gold to ride around and hunt. I didn't mention the dog, because his value seems to vary from night to night.

i guess i''m the poorest or cheapest hunter here.
my car is way past having any real value, maybe $200.00
pistol, $165.00
light 135.00, two years old
cur 75.00
cur 250.00
gps 165.00
backpack 72.00 three years old
boots 110.00
bibs 90.00
gas 20.00
most of this stuff will last a few years, so it's not that much really.
dog maintenance and care repair can cost a lot of money though.

Yeah, but ain't it funny how those same friends that give you crap for all the stuff on your belt are the ones always saying " Which way are the dogs? which way is the truck/road; give me a bulb/ bullet; shoot that snake;my light's dead, let me borrow your flashlite."
One night a new guy was hunting with us and starting giving me crap about all the stuff on my belt, and as soon as we got into the woods he started wanting me to "break this out" or "let's see that work." I ignored him just long enough to get him agitated, and finally said "I don't see no f'ing Batman symbol in the sky, go buy yourself some hunting equipment." After the laughter of everyone else subsided, we had a good hunt and he didn't give me any more crap.

Sir, please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to insult or offend you. I can see the biggest part of your list is needed but, what's the backpack for? And $90.00 for bibs? I have two sons that are 6'2' or 6'3 and I bought both of them, along with myself, some bibs at Southern States for $45.00 a pair. They were the insulated type too. They have lasted for years and still going strong. $110.00 for boots are worth it if they are comfortable. I'd pay $500.00 for a pair of boots if they would be super comfortable. Are you sure you didn't get the bib price mixed up with the gas price?
