How many of you do it? Give me some info please. I used to think that was kind of a lazy way to coon hunt, unless you were in really big timber. but now I'm starting to get a little older and staying fat, and with gas prices the way they are and living within close proximtity of hunting land, it's looking better.

Does anyone use mules for hunting day or night. I just bought a well broke 48" mare. I plan on hunting off of it this season, and I am looking for all the pointers I can get.

I dont know anything about them but some friends of mine had them and they were great to hunt off of. they didnt even get excited by the sound of a gun. they even rode them along streams and trout fished. they can get some places u cant get the atv and u dont have to worry about gas.

Nah i havent heard of anyone coon hunting on horseback just mules. Mules are a hell of alot better on their feet (surefooted) and they can jump over fences and climb any hill you come across, you cant go wrong with a mule even tho they are a tad stubburn lol

Yes, I ride a mule every night through the winter. Only way to go ! Yes you can ride a horse, and they can jump. Had a huntin buddy that rode a welsh pony, that was a tough little dude, and would jump as good as any mule. I don't ride those little Shetland mules, mine are 15 hands ( 60 inches ) . We tie our dogs to the britchen, and the mules, lead the dogs. Does'nt take long for a dog, to learn to stay behind the mule going through thick brush. Mule carries gun, axe, coffee, snacks, extra coat, or whatever. If you like to ride, and like to coonhunt, you can't beat it.
