I'm seeing the term "Majestic" more and more...it seems to refer to a breed. Can someone tell me what exactly a "Majestic" is.
Thanks,
Ted

Thanks for the reply. I work bloodhounds for law enforcement. I have heard of folks crossing other hounds into the bloodhound to try and get a more heat (hot weather) tolerant dog. What are the usual goals/results you guys are seeing in these crosses?
Thanks again,
Ted.

This is Most of our Majestic Pack less about 4 hounds..lol

We Have Never Made a First time Cross of Bloodhound X Hound
But most all of our hounds carry anywhere from 50% Bloodhound down to 12.5% Bloodhound

The one on top is a Pure Bluetick

Yea Coonhunter, arent those nice. Imagine some one putting the nose and ears back on our hounds AND tightening the eyes on the B.H. About 12.5% would do these other breads some good. 25% for a lot of the comp. bread dogs.
I know some say You don't breed good dog to good dog to get good pups. But it works in nature and has since the world began. That is good enough for me.
That is why I don't mind people cheating on papers so much. You need out side blood every now and then. Look back at what ever your favorite breed is 50 years ago. See the differance. Improveing the dog's my a&^*$

I'l just say this "The Bloodhound was the Building Block for every Hound that has ever lived" And its time to begain to Breed "Refined Bloodhound Blood" back in..

Their isn't any reason to breed "Behind the Barn" ... Just Single Reg. the Best that you Produce. This will Insure that Qty. Stock will be avb. for Breed Outcrosses.. jmo..

Hate to disapoint ya but the blood hound was not the building block of every hound. A majestic is nothing but a crossbreed, why anyone would want to breed bloodhound into coonhounds is beyond me. YOu sure ain't improving anything.

I had a half bloodhound and half Black and Tan that was a fine coon dog. I don't know much about majestic hounds, they may be cross breeds, but so were walkers, Blueticks, basically every coon dog out there was crossed from something.

The bloodhound isn't the foundation to all hounds. Grand bleu de gascone was pre bloodhound.

Also, bloodhounds don't tree. If you make that cross it is uncertain what kind of hunter the pups will turn out to be. Crossing 2 different pure breeds without a specific goal for improvement only makes the outcome unpredictable.
