just do a search on here and you should find a couple of post on this topic. I believe one may even have some plans on it.

if your gonna make it out of wood frame it with like 2x4s it makes the box heavy but it will be strong. just measure the inside of your trucks bed and make it to the size you want i have a truck box in my truck so mine is like 4 feet long by 3 somthing feet wide the top of the box is 5 feet b 5feet i like to have the over hang so rain cant get in the dog box. good luck. there pretty easy to make i also have a metal one that sits on top of the bed rails were the whole bed is open for the dogs i used 1x1 inch square tubing.

i have a Houndsman Delux, but, if i was goin to make one, i would stay away from wood. find some alum. square tubing and some flat sheet metal, weld the frame together, and pop rivit or weld the sheet metal to the frame on all sides, cut holes with plasma cutter foor doors, grind them smooth, make u some doors, use rummer trim aorund the door so it wont be sharp....just an idea. use piano hinge on doors and top storage....works better than reg. cabinet or door hinge.

The metal gets very hot and very cold. Just something to think about. The wood acts as an insulator. You can paint is and it will last for many many years. You can also use air crates. They are light and easy to clean.

i built mine out of 3/4 plywood...its strong enuf that u dont need any framewerk...just screw into the other peice of plywood...i also used my trucks bed as the floor. i carpeted the top and put up a rig rail;...all together i have 55$ into it. most alum. boxes just dont werk that well for bear huntin..cant get enuf dogs in or on top.

easiest way I ahve tfound is look around your neighborhood and find some old bed frames, they are a light angle iron that plenty stout enough for a dog box...and I use 4 x 4 cattle panels for the sides back and door....makes for a nice light weight box...

I made mine using 7/16'' plywood, 2'' X 2'' pieces for the frame, some wire for acouple of windows, and decking screws to put it all together.
It cost just under $50.00 to buy the materials. I had the paint already to paint it with.
It is 4' L X 3' W X 2' H and weighs around 60lbs.

make sure air can get in. i dont like small holes if you put alot of dogs in the box after a race it gets pretty warm in there i hate breathing hot steamy air i figure the dogs dont like it eather. plus i have heard dogs suffacating in the dog box another good reason to have good ventalation.
