Today when i got home from school my mom said that my dog was out which isnt a big deal except for that she is in heat and I have a male st bernard and who is about 12 years old and they were doin something that i wish they wouldent have. I was woundering if that since my st bernard is so old that maybe he cant get the job done anymore does anyone know anything about this, cause the last thing I want is walker mixed with my st bernard
If your male dog can complete a mating there is a chance he isn't too old to be successful at it. If you do take your female for a mismate shot please read up on it and watch your dog very carefully afterward for any signs of being unusually quiet, acting depressed or having a discharge that is different from what the vet says to expect. There can be some pretty serious complications with some of the shots they use.
a guy i was talkin to said that one of his dogs got pregnant by a st bernard and they were the best coondogs that he ever had cause dont st bernards have a very good nose and my dad said that i couldnt get the shot but since my dog is only two years old do you think that the babies will survive or even kill her in the process
They are supposed to have a good nose-they are used to find lost people in snowy mountains. The pups might be huge but there might only be a couple of them. Was your female already in heat for several days or had she just started? If bred very soon there are less pups than there would be if she was bred at about 10 days into her heat.
