When I was training my dalmatian on hogs a few years back (on my own land. Someone cut loose their 3 labs and boy did that ##*%* me off. When they came up and tried to kill my dog he looked at me and I told him to go to town on them. He fought them three on one and whooped all three pretty bad. Needless to say the guy never turned his dogs loose on mine again (he was sitting in his field watchin what happened).

In Iowa if you turned loose where you had permission you can retrieve your hound no matter where he is. However you can not take a weapon. I found in Iowa what works best is to Drive around in the day time and introduce yourself to the land owners in a 1 mile radius shake hands at a decent hour makes a major diff.
