are well over $3.00 now...Somewhere around $3.33 in this neighborhood. It costs so much to drive the tankers now that they're not making it through. The mileage is too low to be worth the trip! We got to download the big rigs and carry it in five gallon buckets.
When I was in high school, back in hippie days, two of my friends went to the bank at lunchtime and pulled out a yellow transparent plastic water pistol. The teller pushed the silent alarm and told the cops she thought there might be acid in the pistol and the two giggly teenagers in tie-dyed t-shirts seemed "dangerous" to her. The kids were charged with robbing a bank and there was a scandal in town for months. The principal posted guards to make sure no one left the high school during school hours any more (we had been allowed to leave at lunch time). We staged group protests, running off the grounds in all directions at once so they could only grab a few of us. But those were more innocent times.
