That's the way it is here better keep any spot a secret if not it'll be the same way five trucks with four or five dogs in each box and they will knock every coon they tree even if its three or four up one tree

hey guys,
old thread but thought id revive it.

so for you guys that skin them out right in the woods, do u carry a jug of water to rinse your hands off? even skinning them out after hunting theyre so fatty that it really makes your hands slick compared to like a squirrel or rabbit. i dont know if id be able to hang on to anything after skinning one haha

Where I hunt you can usually find a creek or pond somewhere close, but the past few years I've been packin latex gloves like the doctors use, they're not very expensive and don't take up much room in yer pocket

I skin right in the woods. So much easier when they are warm. I keep rags with me to wipe my hands. If I come across a stream I rinse them. I'd rather have slick smelly hands than luck around a whole carcass coon all night

Plus when you put a nice big ole haw of cope in your lip it adds some extra flavor using your skinnin hands. Lol always a silver lining. Lol just like carrying "soda" in your game pouch adds extra flavor

We usually have a person that's not leading a dog out, They hook the coon around the neck or around a foot with a lead and drag it out. Of course he would be in the back because of the dogs.

See its not up north your looking for is mid west. If you tree 2-3 a night here you had a great night.
In 5 yes I've shot six coon. They're just thin here. Not very many farms still going. So not much corn or feed.
