Ok so i didn't think there was any time in Ohio you couldn't shoot a coon out of a tree, but my buddy told me it was only open all year to trapping and that coon "hunters" aren't supposed to kill year round but he didn't have dates for me. Any info?? Suppose it would be nice to know if there was a reg on this case i get caught poaching

i dont believe you can trap either, unless a farmer or somebody asks you to remove a coon from there land. even then, i believe you have to have a special permit. i no you CAN NOT shoot them out,out of season. if you have one around the house in a cage to use for training, you have to have a special permit.( i no that first hand...ooops..).

coon season usualy starts on november 9th or 10th and goes out end of january. starting in may and endin in september u r not alowed to train ur dogs on state hunting land only on privet land. u r not alowed to kill, capture or transporte coon anytime out of season . u can have a permit for a "pet" coon wich I think costs about $10 a year
