Don't over do the caged coon right now wait a few weeks if shes in a kennel leave her inside the pen and drag the coon around the outside see how she does. Sometimes they will be more gritty with a kennel or pen fence between the pup and the coon.

my walker is one year. when she was six months i introduced her to a live coon she was scared to death wanted nothing to do with it even with an old dog with her showing her what to do. i thought she was a dud. so i left her in the pen lost interest in her. after she was a year old i tried again. she started sniffing it. i got a little exited because it was a turn around from how she was six months ago. now that i have taken her to the woods with an older non tree aggressive dog 7 times she is barking on track and treeing not perfect yet but fun to hunt and watch her get better every time i turn her loose. i also used a whip to get her to keep quiet in her pen. never hit her with it just made it crack. she is not gun shy at all. when i shoot a coon down she looks up and waits for it to fall. ive had dogs in the past hit the country at the sound from a gun. may not work for you but has for me.
