Went to the Shot Show in Las Vegas last week. I had an amazing time!!! So much fun and possibly the best thing to ever happen to my company (more details as things develop). Got stuck there (I know there's worst places to get stuck) due to the snow storm on the east coast. Had to stay an extra 2 days. Finally made it home and was starting to get settled back in when....I get home from running my dog for the first time in 2 weeks and my wife says the SPCA officers stopped at the house around 8 pm.

I guess a neighbor called and said my dog was too skinny. Now most of you know me. He's not. He's in shape. So must be a new neighbor somewhere. So they get a complaint. I get it they need to come look at the dog. Well the dog wasn't home sorry leave your name and number I'll set up a time for you to see the dog. Right?

No they don't leave a number. They ask when is a good time to come back. My wife says I'm working call him and make an appointment. They get frustrated and leave. But the real problem. They tell her they've already looked over my kennel!!! That means they trespassed onto my property before knocking on the door!!! I don't care who you are you can't walk across my 4th amendment right without a warrant.

So I called in the morning and found out to make it worse one of them was a Sheriff Deputy. They know they can't do that! Talked to the supervisor at the Sheriff's station late yesterday afternoon. I tore into him (nice and professional like) about how his officer failed to identify himself to my wife. Then went onto explain how his officer would have been responsible for jeopardizing the case had my dog actually been abused. I made sure to explain to him how I knew the difference between criminal trespassing and technical trespassing (which is what the officer did). Said I would have been nice and assisted in the investigation but now that they violated my fourth amendment I was going to exercise my fifth. Now they can't see the dog without a warrant so don't bother coming back. And I have pictures of both their foot prints in the snow.

He said he had to wait a couple of days for the deputy to go back on duty but he was calling the SPCA officer immediately to get their side of the story. I said that's fine but don't come back without a warrant.

Good for you. People who don't know hounds and even some who think they do ( rescue people) have no idea what a healthy hound should look like. I am tired of telling people my dog is not was not under fed and they actually like to be outside even if it is on a cable.I have seen pictures of rescue hounds that people have and boy are they over weight.Got a gascon now and there is no way he looks thin too much muscle.

I've had 4 complaints in the last 4 months about my dog. First for barking (she doesn't bark in the kennel), the animal control officer said he waited for an hour and never heard one bark. The next was for her being outside all day, the animal control officer came out and said her living conditions were above and beyond what is required. 3rd time was for being under feed, once again the officer came out and said she was very healthy in fact he said she looks like she is a little over feed(he used to have a coon dog growing up back east) and that I need to hunt her more haha. By the fourth complaint he just called laughing saying the new complaint is the big cut on her lip from being abused. He was laughing cause he said I must have taken her hunting (she got swiped by a trapped bobcat).

Funny when a bunch of city people with lap dogs think we don't know how to treat a dog haha.

I would tell him write the ticket knowing you'll be found not guilty. When it goes to trial you have the right to face your accuser so the person complaining has to take the stand against you. Or just start knocking on doors asking until you find someone that won't look you in the eye.

At least you get the animal control officer. I wish they had called my town animal control officer. he would have laughed right at them. Instead they called the SPCA knowing it was an anti hunting organization.
