I got my first two redone pups in august and they are almost 4 months old and have chased 1 coon so far when they were 3 months old, they trailed it on there own for about 400 yards and then another 200 yards when they were on the leash but never treed because we had to stop since it took off for the river and they were still small

I know I'm really excited to get out this season and hunt with them. My dads friend is gonna come up with his dog and pup to hunt once my football season is over. He has a black and tan and just got a blue tick pup.

That's awesome!
I got my first hound since I was about 14. Got me a red bone and have been mostly working him on leash and obedience commands and played with him with a side of the road find coon tail and after the season started here I got a coon and skinned him out and used that for a week or so. He loves him some coon!!
Walk him in the woods a lot. Over the next couple weeks I want to take him out to the woods at night.
I think he is going to turn out real good!
Got him from a good ol timer in Ohio. Great guy too!

Good luck to ya in the future

Thanks, and we're in the woods with them all the time, its funny because we gave them a fresh dead coon and they weren't interested at all but they really use their noses and had fun chasing that coon. And sounds like you have a good dog yourself good luck to you. And we got them from NY.

Yeah when I first started I was using just a coon tail and he loved chasing it but would never sound on it. When I pelted out the first coon I got he would track it and sound on it.
Really curious to see how he acts when it comes to hunting.
I will be running him with a buddy's trained dog.
