how do still mouth hounds get strike points without cheating someone else if they are honest and only treeing their hounds its ok but if your dog can't win without you being dishonest you ain't got much of a comp. hound in my opinion.

You would have to strike your dog and tree your dog at the same time. Probably only going to get 25 on strike all night and better hope every tree, the dog is alone. Its possible but would be a real challenge.

I have a 5 year old English male he can be tight mouth at times but he is an honest coonhound and I'm not goin to pitch another mans dog as my own.. Sometimes he is a second strike but normally comes in last and ends up split didn't make NiteCh for either one of us being dishonest

You dont have to pitch him. I have one who doesn't say a word on the ground. Strike her on the locate and tree her on the 2nd or 3rd bark. The rule only states they must be struc in before declared treed.

I've heard that one of the walkers that won the world hunt a few years back was a tight mouth dog he only barked on the tree I don't know if that's true or not I just heard it but I will say my buddy has a saddle back English dog is very very tight mouth on the track as in u strike him on his locate and then tree him and he ain't a hard tree dog he don't Stand on the tree he stands at the bottom of the tree and barks lookin up and he stays at the tree he has a mouth that will make ur heart skip a beat and I have hunted with him since he was a pup and he's never been in the woods with out me and he has never once made a slick tree so to me that makes him a 100% accurate dog and he is a grand night champ and he will tree u squirrels in the day time and has found a few lay up coons in the day he's been invited to the world hunt 2 times and we hunt the swamps of Florida hard

Tighter mouth dogs tend to be faster on track. Hence why some guys don't mind them.

All I can add is that in a local hunt with people you know you could get away with this but if youll look at scratch offences it reads dog will be scratched if it is consistently silent on track. Refer to section (I) in your handbook.

That is the dumbest thing ive ever heard y would u scratch a dog cause it tight mouthy on track now I see what people mean by the best dogs r pleasure dogs I know my dog is not the best but I will say of the 40 plus years I've hunted hounds I have never seen a dog that's as good as mine in the woods and if she got scratched because she was tight mouth I would flip the heck out on that judge right there

Draw me packing a silent dog and your going to the truck if I am judging . That's the rules plain and simple. The cur registries allow it !

You cant prove it I have had judges try to scratch me you just got to know how to pitch we have took it back to the master houndsmen he ruled for me because the judge could not prove it
