I know there is not an age limit for dogs but at what age would you say is too old for a dog to compete, and be successful?

The oldest I've personally seen was 10 years old but she was a PKC SilverCh.

Just like us, them old dogs like to have a little fun and get out every now and then. I think you could hunt him 10 plus years if your hunting him in a couple small local club hunts. Hunt's where he wont get a lot of pressure or pushed hard to stay up with a bunch of young dogs. Most the time them old dogs normally tell you when they've had enough too.

it depends on the dog. does it act young does it feel good etc. i hunted one in the hunts at 12 yrs old still won her fair share but she hunted like she was 2. she didnt get pushed that hard but she hunted that hard even by herself. she died hunting that hard (she got hit by a car) so it just depends on the dog

I hunted a 11 yr old dog in a two day event. He did fine first night but I with drew at third drop on second night. I could tell he was over it. They was wide open ever drop and he hunted wide anyway. I would think you could hunt a dog in comp hunts till it died as long as you could tree it and the 15 didn't catch it.
