A guy from work( in his early 20's) went hunting with me tonight. Dogs treed with in 15 min was a 16 lb sow coon and a 400 yard walk. He loved it. Couldn't belive it would be so much fun. Now he wants to go next weekend. I told him this was his easy..not to expect this every time..I always enjoy taking someone new and having a good time we had a barrel of fun

I had a similar experience my first time. It was about 4 years ago and we treed 9 coons in 3 hrs but never left 160 acres. This year I've got my first pup and still hunting with the same guy who is also training a pup. We've been out numerous times and only treed 7 total, but it is in me now and I will never let it go. I love the sound of the dogs doing what they do and even look forward to going out in the 20 degree weather trampling through the woods. Keep him going and he will help keep the sport alive for the next generation or two. Good luck.

Never met a coon hunter that wasn't either born into it as I was, or didn't get introduced by a coon hunter that took them out for that first time. Taking someone hunting is what keeps this alive and produces other coon hunters.

We should all strive to better our sport by introducing it to first timers. Especially the kids.
