I'm getting 2 walkers tomorrow (males) at a steal, both come from good dogs but not registered. They told me I could get them since they came from a good line. How would I go about this? Even if I can't ill still be happy due to not looking to make money and haven't found any clubs close in louisiana. She told me I could go and have it DNA tested and send it off, is this true? Thanks for any help!!! I'm completely new and haven't found anyone close to tag along with or talk to!

This is just a word of advice, Don't do it, you could be in a hornets nest. Find you a good pup that can be regestered with no problems. You will be farther ahead. as far as finding someone to tag along with log onto UKC and look for hunts in your area. Show up and find someone you can relate to. Have Fun!!!!!!!!!

I think it all depends on what you are wanting to do with your hounds. Me personally I don`t care about papers and if your just going to pleasure hunt then I wouldn`t worry with it. But if you wanna go to comp. hunts I think sarge is right start with a pup that can be registered with no problems. Btw idk how old these dogs are that you are getting but if you are new to the sport I would start out with a pup and a good broke dog. If you are starting out with two puppies being new to the sport you could have your hands full. Good luck and good hunting either way.

A lady has some BMC/WALKER/PLOTT pups for $20 ea male or female. Is this a good cross? I don't have any clubs around me I have found so papers wouldn't matter(this are not as well) at that price I like them lol.

I think your best bet is to keep looking around on this site or even other sites and see if you can find a dog around your area. And that could help led you to some people to hunt with.

You can make a coon dog out of that mix if you want. You put the time in the pup. And cost doesn't always mean anything. I recently bred my NtCh bitch to a Grand Nite Grand show male & kept 2 pups & gave the other 7 away for free papers, shots & all.
One of the best trailing beagles I ever owned I bought for $20 & she's still out in my kennel.

Thanks guys I got 2 ukc blueticks a week ago. Both parents were 'PR' and got both pups (males) for $200. I liked the walker pups but at a yr old I didn't want to waste my time trying to make something out of nothing. They never started them!
