If both parents are coondogs the chances are better for the pups. just my opinion, titles dont mean that much to me. but i dont know everything.

Papers are ok.. but I have yet to see a set of papers tree a coon!!! I go on a certain look when i pick a pup!! So far its worked for me!!!! Papers are ok.. but not necessary.. I agree that if both parents are hunters then there is a good chance that the pup will be too!!

All the papered dogs i ever bought were good at eating dog food and thats about it. i have seen a lot more crossbred coonhounds turn out than purebreds. we had a 1/2 redbone 1/4redtick and1/4 walker one time that was excellent he hunted till he was 16 before he died. I do have a walker male now that is gonna be awesome but i dont have papers. pretty sure hes fullbred.

Pappered and titled are two diffent things here. If your never going to comp. hunt or bred why spend $150 more on a pup with papers. Selling pups however w/o papers is harder to do unless you already have about 10 people who want cheep pups. As far as titles they can be put on any dog when you belong to a club. It's hard to tell if a dog really earned it or not these days. Plus the fact that some dogs are Coon dogs but not good in night hunts the way the rules are. Or just have poor handlers. Titles and papers don't make the dog it just makes them easy to sell.

i have a friend that bets on horses alot. he breaks even mostly. pretty good for an amatuer. i once asked him how he'd pick horses he knew nothing about. he said it's simple, lots of horses, but fewer trainers. he made bets based on who looked after the horse. some people won't keep junk. i've learned the same is true with hounds. i learn as much as i can about the sire and dam and thier respective lines, but i look closely at the person breeding. you can tell some people know what they're doin' and they won't feed dogs that don't hunt, and they are particular about what they breed to. just my .02
