Need to get out and start killing a few of them. They are getting bad every where. They think they own all the territory. I taught this one he didn't. lol Sorry to hear about your dog. Especially in the back yard, thats just too close.

Man sorry about your dog. My dog got run off a tree a few weeks ago by some yotes, didnt try to attack her, but she knew they were close, she left the tree and got out of the woods, and she never leaves a tree.Sounded like there were 100's of them.

My dad had a few dogs killed by coyotes. The dogs were on his property. The coyotes females would come down and lure the males away from the house then the pack would tear them up. He witnessed it one day and shot the female before she left the yard.
He ended up buying a BIG pit just to give the coyotes a run. So far, the pit has killed two of the coyotes, and they haven't killed anymore of his dogs. The pit did get torn up three times though. It is missing its left ear.

that is a bad deal .My husband and I have coon dogs and hunt all the time We havent had any coon dogs ran off tree yet .But on the other hand we have 9 coyote dogs that we hunt coytotes with we kill about 70-80 every season and it dont even make a dent in them. We shoot every one we see. We have never had a dog hurt really bad by one but had some killed hunting by a cougar or cat. They coyotes around here have got guts they will come in your backyard. I have a pit/lab mix and two coyote dogs that run loose on our farm they seem to saty away for the most part. good luck hunting the dirty rats shoot em all.

They're getting bold down here in East TN too. 10 years ago you hardly ever saw one at all, and now you might see 2 or 3 a week in broad daylight. I've had them run my dogs off tree before but never had one get cut up or anything too bad. As far as shooting them, I'm in a wildlife class at the University of TN right now, and we were talking about coyotes and how they are the most adaptable animals on the face of the earth. You can kill every single one within a 100 mile radius, and within a year they will be just as thick as they were before. But that sure don't mean that you can't try to thin them down some

Hello, I was out tonight with my 6 month old walker pup. we were walking up a creek when he opened up on a track, he run it pretty far and I thought I could hear him treed. I started walking toward him I got closer and he shut up and I could hear a coyote yipping super close I was afraid they were after him. I shot my gun and yelled and the pup ran up unharmed thankfully but I was pretty worried. has anyone had a bad experience with coyotes and a pup? Kinda got me worried to run him alone now. thanks

That's a shame my friend.... My hounds are in kennels but use to have coyotes come in pretty close to house when my female was in heat or during hard winter when food is scarce. I killed two within two weeks that were messing with my house dog (a shepherd) and he killed one a month later. After that they don't come anywhere close to house. Coyotes are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for. They run from bright lights at night time. Shine them good in the woods if u can't get a shot off at them and they'll run. I also added a dual flood light with motion sensor in back yard on barn. They run when that gets triggered. Good luck fellow hunters. Kill all them yotes.

Yeah i hunted with a pack of three dogs one tonight and they all came running back to the truck. Coyotes are very territorial and will hunt down your dog
